The Fourth of July

We did the whole parade thing this morning. Small town = small parade, so we didn't have to go sit in the sun for 2 hours just to see the top of some clown's head from three rows back. It also means that Ella didn't get trampled by 20 other kids when she dashed out into the road for candy.

Lucy wasn't sure what to think of it. She was intimidated by the sounds, but didn't really want it all to end.

One highlight for Ella was meeting Swoops, the mascot for the Philadelphia Eagles. "He" sat right down & shook her hand, and "booped" her nose with his wing.

The rest of the day was spent in yard work & playing. And after supper we had cake and ice cream and sang "Happy Birthday" to America. Well, most of us did. Lucy just sang "happy day."
